A confidential telephone program offering information and referral to local resources, supportive listening, and emergency services. This is the contact point for access to numerous Wood County agencies and programs. Crisis Intervention is the most effective route to mobilize immediate face to face assistance for mental health, alcohol, and other drug abuse, and developmental disabilities. This phone line will help people in crisis situations anytime day or night and is a suicide intervention hotline. Major source of funding is governmental and individuals are not charges for crisis services, but attempts may be made to bill insurance if available.

The Crisis Center at North Central Health Care provides access to a Crisis Stabilization CBRF, which is a non-medical setting for adults in crisis who might otherwise require hospitalization. Paraprofessional staff provide one-on-one support 24 hrs./day. The Crisis Stabilization CBRF is located on the Wausau NCHC campus and provides services to adult residents of Marathon, Lincoln, and Langlade Counties. The Crisis Stabilization CBRF is also a transitional placement for persons discharged from the inpatient psychiatric unit but who are not yet able to live independently.
