The American Red Cross provides service to military families & offers assistance to victims of natural disasters as well as disasters involving home fires & home flooding. Education courses including first aid, CPR, swimming lessons, & babysitting.

The Antigo Housing Authority (AHA) is a multi-jurisdictional housing and community development agency serving residents in both the City of Antigo and Langlade County. We are committed to providing safe, sanitary and affordable housing for our low to moderate income families, senior citizens, handicapped and disabled residents.

Badger Housing Associates offers federally subsidized housing for elderly & people with disabilities. We are not crisis housing. Provides safe & sanitary apartments for low to moderate income adults, seniors, or adults w/disabilities. Administers 149 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.

Marshfield Community Development Authority provides eligible single persons, families, elderly, and/or handicapped persons subsidized rental assistance or housing in the Marshfield area. Both programs that are offered are income based.

Housing rehabilitation program for low-to moderate-income Village of Athens residents only to make homes safe, sanitary & livable. Rehabilitation to make homes accessible & furnace replacement.
Uses revolving funds, so the grant is paid back when the home is sold. Also provides rehabilitation funds (these loans aren’t zero% interest though) to landlords who rent to low-income residents.

Responsible for assuring the health, safety, & welfare of the citizens of Wisconsin. If an individual believes that a caregiver, agency, or DQA-regulated facility has violated State or Federal laws pertaining to regulated entities, that individual has the right to file a complaint.

The Emergency Housing Assistance Fund (EHAF) agencies are a group of community organizations that are concerned about homelessness & poverty in Marathon County. Its mission is to address & help alleviate problems of near homelessness while maintaining the dignity of potentially homeless persons. EHAF grants may provide EMERGENCY rental assistance to area residents who would be evicted due to a crisis in the household and not being able to pay rent. Funds are intended for emergency rent and are available to a household once in a 12 month time frame.

Replaces old smoke alarms & alarm batteries in Schofield & Rothschild senior citizens’ homes, free of charge. Also will inspect homes for potential fire & life safety hazards.

Evacuation/Fire Safety program speaker available for the elderly, disabled, independent living, teens, young parents, group homes, recent immigrants, service club/organizations. Programs offered through Wausau Fire Department: Smoke Detector Program, Installation of free smoke & carbon monoxide detectors for disabled, elderly or low-income homeowners. Must qualify as one of the above, occupy & own the property & are Wausau city residents. Supplies Available for Use (Provided to the City of Wausau residents) Chimney cleaning brushes & rods for cleaning chimneys. Different shapes/sizes available.

Repairs may include weatherization, roof or furnace replacement, and making the home more accessible for people with disabilities. The program will send a property inspector to assess needed repairs, and lend up to $35,000 at 2% interest, to qualifying owners. There may be a waiting list apply at the Community Development Department.

Provides a temporary home-away-from-home for parents and families of sick or injured children. The House has ten bedrooms and communal living spaces including a kitchen, gaming room, laundry facilities and playground. Amenities include wi-fi, stocked pantry, toiletries and donated meals most weeknights. Thanks to the generosity of local donors, Ronald McDonald House is free to families, regardless of length of stay. To qualify, guests must have a pediatric child (newborn – 18) experiencing a hospitalization or treatment at Marshfield Children’s Hospital or Marshfield Clinic. To begin the required referral process, families can request assistance from Hospital or Clinic staff or call with questions.

Our Sisters’ House is a temporary homeless shelter. Individuals or families can stay in a home-like setting for up to three months while working with a dedicated Case Manager to achieve self-sufficiency. We maintain a strict drug and alcohol free sober living environment.
