LOWELL CENTER

The Lowell Center is a gathering place for seniors with activities and events scheduled in a variety of areas, including: education/personal enrichment, health and wellness, arts and crafts, social and recreational, and special events. Seniors are encouraged to volunteer their knowledge and expertise in the various programs. All adults over 50 are welcome to participate in The Lowell Center’s programs and activities. A monthly Program Calendar is published at the first of each month that is available with our newsletter that may be picked up in the office or mailed at an additional cost.

Regular scheduled Senior activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 3pm with Senior Dining at 12:00pm. Reservations are required one day in advance. (715) 421-0014. SENSORY PROGRAM FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS Wausau Community Theatre

Program allows theater patrons with visual impairment to enjoy productions by Wausau area performance groups including Wausau Community Theatre, Mosinee Community Theatre, Center Stage Band and Show Choir, Wausau West High School, DC Everest Schools, and more. *Provides visually impaired patrons with descriptive audio equipment, a pre-show tour of the stage and Braille programs. During performances, a trained volunteer will narrate the visual highlights. *Services offered to other area performance organizations upon request.

WAUSAU METRO ADULT SPECIAL OLYMPICS

We provide sports competition and training for cognitive people to enhance their lives health wise and socially. Sports events during 4 seasons for cognitively challenged persons over 18 years of age. Activities include: *Basketball team and skills *Bowling *Cross-country skiing and snow shoeing *Swimming *Track and field (shot put, softball toss, long jump, etc.) *Bocce *Soccer *Flag football There is competition at the end of each practice series on the Area and State levels. The mission is to promote physical and mental health as well as sociability. Social functions include: Sports season celebrations, summer picnic, Christmas Party, and Brewer or Woodchucks game. Eligibilities: Over 18 yrs. of age, suffering from a cognitive disability, and having transportation to practice and to competitions. Affiliated with Special Olympics Wisconsin. Minimum fee of $2/game for practices.
