ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES

North Central Health Care’s Adult Protective Services Dept. investigates reports of suspected adult (18-59) and elder (60+). This includes reports of alleged abuse or neglect, self-neglect & financial exploitation. As well, the APS Department assesses for the need for guardianship and protective placement and provides emergency intervention when necessary.

ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES – WOOD COUNTY

The Adult Protective Services Unit provides protective services to ensure the rights and to provide for the safety of elderly and disabled adults who are incompetent or at risk as defined by Wisconsin Statutes. The unit also provides information and referral services to elderly and disabled adults who are competent, but live in a manner that may cause harm or create risks. Adult Protective Services is available to assess needs, offer services and make referrals as needed for elders who are victims of or at risk for abuse, neglect or self-neglect or financial exploitation. Also accepts referrals for guardianship when appropriate.

CWAG ELDER FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

Provides info., advocacy, referral, & legal assistance to elder victims of financial abuse. Financial exploitation can include issues of: Consumer fraud & scams, Identity theft, Misuse
of authority by agents under financial powers of attorney or guardianships, Theft in whole or part of an elder’s personal &/or real property. Offer services to the elder’s non-offending surrogate, such as a friend, family member, agent or guardian. Offers training to community members, attorneys, financial institutions, & human service providers on these issues.

WOMEN'S COMMUNITY SAFE SHELTER

Safe Shelter w/an informal & supportive setting. Available to domestic abuse victims, & victims of sexual assault/survivors, human trafficking, all gender & sexual identities. Emergency food & personal items are provided. Kitchen & laundry facilities. Sheltering may last a few days or several weeks, depending on the individual’s & family members’ needs.
