CWAG ELDER FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

This program of the Elder Law Center of the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups provides information, advocacy, referral, and legal assistance to elder victims of financial abuse. Financial exploitation can include issues of:*Consumer fraud and scams*Identity theft*Misuse of authority by agents under financial powers of attorney or guardianships*Theft in whole or part of an elder’s personal and/or real property The project may also offer services to the elder’s non-offending surrogate, such as a friend, family member, agent or guardian. The project also offers training to community members, attorneys, financial institutions, and human service providers on these issues.

HAVEN INC

HAVEN (Household Abuse Victims Emergency Network) provides services to those who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual assault, child abuse, and elder abuse through a 24-hour phone line, crisis intervention, secure shelter, individualized advocacy, and support groups. Advocacy is available to all clients, whether they are in a shelter or not, and includes safety planning, supportive counseling and education, help with obtaining services/resources from other community agencies, information and assistance with the legal process including restraining orders, divorce and child custody, and court accompaniment. All HAVEN services are free and confidential. HAVEN is located in Lincoln County, however there is no geographic limitations for clients, and there is coordination with other similar agencies within the state.

WOMEN'S COMMUNITY SAFE SHELTER

The Women’s Community has a Safe Shelter with an informal and supportive setting. Sheltering is available to domestic abuse victims, their children and victims of sexual assault/survivors and human trafficking. Emergency food and personal items are provided at the Shelter, with kitchen and laundry facilities. Sheltering may last a few days or several weeks, depending on the individual’s and family members’ needs.
